Terms of Use
1. Acceptance of terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Akshara mobile application ("App"), developed and operated by Studio Mudita, operated by Nruthasabesan Sundaramurthy ("we", "us", "our").
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of the App
Akshara is a community sacred practice tracker that allows users to:
- Track personal spiritual practices such as mantra chanting, prayer, and meditation
- Join community groups and contribute to shared collective practice goals
- Use a digital mala counter and tap-counter interface
- View personal streaks, history, and group progress
3. Eligibility
The App is intended for users aged 7 and above. Users between 7 and 13 years of age must have parental consent to use the App. By using the App, you represent that you meet these age requirements.
The App is currently available for users in India only.
4. User accounts
To use the App, you must create an account using a valid email address. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Providing accurate and truthful information
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to use the App only for its intended purpose of tracking sacred spiritual practices. You must not:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App
- Submit false or misleading practice counts
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users through group features
- Use the App to distribute spam or unsolicited content
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts
6. Community groups
When participating in group practices, you agree that:
- Your practice counts and display name will be visible to other group members
- Group administrators may set goals, manage members, and remove users
- We are not responsible for disputes arising between group members
- You will engage respectfully with all group members
7. Intellectual property
The App, including its design, 3D mala renderer, code, and all content, is the property of Studio Mudita and protected under applicable Indian copyright law. The name "Akshara" and the Studio Mudita brand are trademarks of Studio Mudita.
You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our express written permission.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from harmful components.
Akshara is a spiritual practice support tool. It is not a substitute for guidance from qualified spiritual teachers or religious authorities.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Studio Mudita and Nruthasabesan Sundaramurthy shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of your use of or inability to use the App, including loss of data or practice records.
10. Account deletion
You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at support@studiomudita.in. Upon deletion, your personal data and practice history will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. Group contributions may be anonymised rather than deleted to preserve group history.
11. Changes to terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India.
